How we can work together

Projects can be approached however you require.  I can work on the whole concept from beginning to end leaving you to get on with your day job – or I can work on stages of it and you can place orders and implement yourself.

I can work with you directly, or as part of your team of consultants and professionals or I can help you to form a project team.   I’m also very happy to collaborate with other interior designers for larger projects.

Typically, the 8 steps below show how a project is progressed from beginning to end. Obviously there are variations and scales of this depending on the Scope Of Works.

The most successful projects have been the ones where I’m involved at an early planning stage. It means I can influence room layouts and the journey through the space. It really helps to join all elements together such as branding. I can look at the feasibility of the space to suit your business plan before a lease is even signed.
 

CLIENT SPACE
For ease and full visibility of projects – all parties involved are given exclusive access to the project on the online design portal.  Here, project documents such as mood boards, drawings, spreadsheets, photos and specification sheets are stored for the client and contractors to view.

1. BRIEFING AND SITE VISITS
Meet with client to discuss the previously completed new client questionnaire and to form brief. Attend site to make observations. Survey carried out if required.

2. INTERIOR DESIGN CONCEPT
Work on concept to meet interior design brief; producing mood boards, finish samples, plans and elevations where required.

3. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT AND SOURCING
Following progress meeting with client, refine concept and source furniture, finishes and lighting for final presentation and client sign off. Supply costs where possible.

4. DETAIL DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATION
Produce necessary drawings for quotes and subsequent project implementation.

Drawing pack could include general layout with furniture, small power drawing, reflected ceiling plan (lighting layout), radiator layout, decoration and flooring layouts, and builders work drawing if work is that extensive. If required, produce drawings for any bespoke furniture items and door & ironmongery schedule.

5. TRADES
Meet tradespeople on site to discuss proposed work. Adjust drawings if necessary.
Tradespeople are usually client’s own, but recommendations can be made depending on location.

6. PURCHASING
Produce purchasing schedule (FF&E) to help client with ordering finishes, furniture and any other furnishings.

Buy items on client’s behalf if required. Where genuine trade discounts mean a saving for clients, items can be bought on the client’s behalf (subject to terms and conditions).

Attend site to receive deliveries and oversee installation of furniture (by Suppliers).

7. DESIGNER ON SITE
To ensure accurate implementation of visual concept, progress meetings will be attended as required throughout the project to site handover to client.

8. CLIENT BINDER
Ensure all relevant inclusions are given to the client as part of the file. This includes ‘As Built’ drawings, specification sheets, manuals (where applicable), cleaning and maintenance instructions.
