‘WOMAN IN PROPERTY’ WINNER AT THE BUSINESS WOMEN EXCELLENCE AWARDS – SUSSEX – 2018
NOVEMBER 30, 2018
I am absolutely thrilled to win this award. It’s wonderful to be noticed carrying the values and ethics learnt during my happy The Body Shop days into my own company of 13 years.
I was so happy to be nominated … then to hear I was a FINALIST!! … in two categories (Woman In Property and Woman In The Arts) for this year’s . I was more than happy with that.
It was a fantastic event at Brighton’s Hilton Metropole hotel was sponsored by local business success story Propellernet and organised by Faiza Shafeek’s company Carrot Events.
The evening was filled with so many inspiring local business women telling their stories. The night was extra special because it’s the anniversary of 100 years since Parliament passed a law which allowed some women, and all men, to vote for the first time: the 1918 Representation of the People Act.
The event, compered by Radio Sussex’s Danny Pike, raised awareness and £2,000 for the wonderful Brighton Housing Trust. The award was presented by Brighton and Hove’s mayor Dee Simson (who went to the same secondary school as me!). Runner up was the brilliant accredited building contractor Sarra Hawes of Hawes Building Contractors.
Fellow ethical business Charlotte’s Cupboard won four runners up accolades in other award groups including young entrepreneur.
