Michael Henning and the new directors of the club invited me to work on the revamp of their bar, lounge, dining & function room and terrace.
The club is beautifully positioned close to Ditching, with a beautiful view of the South Downs. At the time they were wanting to open the club up for use for the wider community – opening for lunches, weddings and event. The space was tired and restrictive and was in need of attention.
The client brief was to provide a timeless, Colonial look and to make the rooms multi-functional to suit the regular daytime golf club needs along with weddings and functions.
The space was maximised and fully glazed folding doors were installed to give and inside/outside feel. A continuous floor and new lighting was installed throughout. I created zones: library, lounge and dining. I used furniture that could be used inside and out for full flexibility – optimising the space by integrating the large outdoor area with in the space.
I have since returned for a number of further phases of the club’s renovation, including the entrance, bar area and changing rooms.
